While the town of Lee earned $42,000 in the fiscal year ’08-’09 it was the worst year those in the recycling business had ever seen. In the previous year we earned $96,000 in recycling income and we were one of two towns in NH to ever receive more money from recycling than we paid for trash tipping fees! Tipping fees are the cost per ton to dump at the landfill. Each time one of our “cans” are dumped the fee is more that $1,000!
