Water Resources Advisory Committee
One member of the committee asks the question:
"Could the Town of Lee do more to protect drinking water supplies for future generations?"
Another member asks, "Should the town encourage annual well water testing by residents using private
water sources?" The debate meanders around the room until a new priority is identified or a resolution
is
reached and the Lee Water Resources Advisory Committee (LWRAC) moves onto the next agenda item.
The LWRAC is focused on one widespread concern: protecting Lee's water supply quality and quantity.
Are you as concerned about the future of your drinking water supply as you are for the future
of gasoline supplies? How would you feel about paying more for drinking water than for the gas you put in your car? If you regularly purchase liter bottles of drinking water at the local convenience store, you're already paying more per gallon of water compared to a gallon of gasoline. With the Town of Lee being the third largest Town in the State without a municipal water system, it is difficult to predict what is in store for the future of Lee's water resources.
Do we know enough about the status of water resources in the Town of Lee to be sure that future
residents will have ample supplies of good quality drinking water? Is it time to be more proactive
about securing a Town water source for future generations? The Lee Water Resources Advisory Committee
has been wrestling with questions like these since its inception 5 years ago.
WRAC meetings are held on the third Thursday of the month at the Lee Town Hall Annex beginning at 7:30 PM.
All meetings are open to the public.
