Notes from the Town Clerk/Tax Collector's office...
Property taxes run from April 1st through March 31st. The payment due
in July is an estimated amount (based on half of the prior year’s taxes) as
the tax rate for the current year (April 1, 2008 to March 31, 2009) is set in
the September/ October timeframe. Once the rate is set, the actual taxes
are computed for the December billing which represents the taxes due for
the tax year less any payments made.
On July 14th, the Town Clerk will go on line with the state. We will then
have the additional capability of registering vehicles up to 26,000 lbs,
issue Moose plates, agricultural, farm, and tractor plates, as well as initial
(vanity) plates. Also, replace decals, full sets of plates and registrations.
