Community of Lee Attractions


Lee is a diverse community with activities for everyone in the family within a short drive.

Beaches:
Wallis Sands State Beach in Rye offers food and drinks, and has bathhouses with showers.
For stunning ocean views visit Odiorne State Park which is adjacent to the top-notch Seacoast Science Center.
Jenness State Beach offers a simple, clean family beach on Rte. 1 in Rye, NH.
New Castle, a small island off Portsmouth is home to a 31-acre ocean side park – Great Island Common. Visit the Common and the pristine beach for a true New Hampshire summer afternoon!

Lakes and Ponds:
Mendums Pond, part of UNH, is located just a short drive away in Barrington and is a favorite spot for picnicking, boating and swimming.
Pawtuckaway State Park in Nottingham is a popular camping, boating and swimming locale.

Parks:
Neighboring Durham is home to the jewel of all local parks: Wagon Hill Farm. Also the best public sledding hill in the county!
Prescott Park in Portsmouth has some of the prettiest gardens on the seacoast and is also home to the Prescott Park Arts Festival
Jackson’s Landing in Downtown Durham has a fantastic playground and a boat launch. The town of Durham also operates a small ice skating rink on the premises.

Community Groups:
Lee and the surrounding area are home to many community groups. Whether you are looking for art classes or parent groups, you are bound to find them around here.

Oyster River Parents of Pre-Schoolers (ORPP): This group is a nonprofit preschooler activity group. It is the perfect group to join if you are looking to have your child(ren) meet other preschoolers and for you to meet other parents!
Mill Pond Center for the Art in Durham offers musical and theatrical performances, classes for children and adults and summer camp programs. They continually are enriching the Oyster River Community by bring new artists and teachers to our area.
Exeter Center for Creative Arts offers art education for preschoolers through adults. Their classes run the gamut from cartooning to murals to paper maché art.
