Conservation Commission

The Lee Conservation Commission (LCC) was established in 1967. New Hampshire state law RSA 36-A provides the legal authority for Conservation Commissions to properly protect and utilize the natural and watershed resources of the town. The LCC is an advisory body on conservation matters to town boards and state and local agencies. The commission shall consist of three to seven members who must be residents of Lee. Meeting times, agendas and minutes of the LCC are posted on the town website. The LCC typically meets once per month.

The major activities of the LCC include:

  • Stewardship of town parcels with conservation easements;
  • Monitoring of conservation easements on private land where the town is the legal easement holder;
  • Education and outreach on natural resources;
  • Management of trails on town land;
  • Purchasing of conservation easements and land for conservation purposes.
