The Lee Fire & Rescue Department brings you this page to assist you with any questions you might have. Below are multiple links on frequently asked questions, heating with wood, safety concerns, installation of wood stoves, chimney safety, ash management, and a slide show made by the New Hampshire Division of Fire Safety on heating fire safety issues.

The department does provide Courtesy Limited Visual Wood Stove and Chimney Inspections for town residents. We do not provide an inspection for insurance companies. If you have any questions or would like to schedule a Limited Visual Inspection please call the department at 659-5411.

Safety Tips

  • Be sure your home has properly installed and functional smoke detectors. Check the batteries. Change the clock change your batteries. Smoke detectors should be replaced every 10 years according to the National Fire Protection Agency.
  • Make sure your property has a proper street number displayed on the road. Remember we are responding to you residence at all hours of the day in all types of weather. 4 inch reflective numbers work well.
  • Have emergency numbers placed near each telephone.
  • Make sure to have a functional extinguisher in your home. Extinguishers should be replaced every 10 years according to the National Fire Protection Agency.
  • Be sure to have a carbon monoxide detector in your home. Check the batteries periodically. Batteries should be changed with your smoke detector batteries.
