HB1129 Optional Town Meeting Procedures

THERE WILL BE A NEW PROCEDURE THIS YEAR FOR APPROVING THE TOWN WARRANT AND FOR THE MUNICIPAL ELECTION

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic, the Town Moderator and Lee Select Board have determined that for the safety of the residents of the town and pursuant to the special legislation adopted by the NH Legislature (HB1129) we will be adopting Temporary Optional Town Meeting Procedures. The Moderator and Select Board will be holding two, live virtual information and meeting sessions to inform the voters about the proposed optional meeting procedures and discuss the warrant articles. The 1st meeting will be held via Zoom on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2021 at 9:00 am. Residents may watch by logging in and using Meeting ID 869 0483 3577 Password 033847 or listen in by calling 1- 646-558-8656. Zoom instructions can be found at www.leenh.org.

1. During the 1st session, the Select Board will explain the optional meeting procedures and review each warrant article. After this session, the public may submit questions and comments:

Drop off comments at the Selectmen’s Office, Town Offices at 249 Calef Highway, Lee, NH

All comments must include your name and address. Comments must be submitted no later than February 5th at noon. Your name and the content of any comments will be shared publically during the 2nd virtual session. The Select Board reserves the right to summarize comments greater than 100 words.

2. The 2nd virtual meeting session will be held via Zoom on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2021 at 9:00 am. Residents may watch by logging in and using Meeting ID 869 0483 3577 Password 033847 or listen in by calling 1-646-558- 8656. Zoom instructions can be found at www.leenh.org. During this session, the Select Board will review all comments submitted and deliberate any changes suggested by these comments. The Select Board will then vote to move each article to the ballot.

NOTE: After the election of officers, the 2nd article on the ballot will be to see if the voters approve of these optional town meeting procedures. If this question is not approved, no other article will pass.

3. On March 9, 2021, the Town will hold its regular municipal election at the LEE TRANSFER STATION, 11 Recycling Center Rd, Lee, NH from 7am – 7pm. Voting will be conducted by drive-through in order to allow people to vote from the safety of their own vehicle.

4. We encourage anyone who is not yet registered to vote to do so in advance. You may also file for an absentee ballot with the town clerk as soon as possible. Absentee ballot requests are available on www.leenh.org or at the Town Clerk’s Office, 249 Calef Hwy. If you have questions please call that office at (603) 659-2964 ext. 307 or 308.
