Activity Log 3/16/23 to 3/31/23

Have you ever wondered, just what we do? Here’s a peek into, the work of our crew.
Lee Police Activity Log for 3/16/23 to 3/31/23:
Calls for Service:
- Performed 147 directed patrols and business checks.
- Performed 49 motor vehicle stops, including 16 for speed.
- A 911 call, from a shop after close; 6 men shaking doors, are they friends or they foes? They had been on camera, but went out of frame; the caller concerned, about why they came.  Before we arrived, the men had departed; checking the footage, they’d no clue what they started. It looked like some teens, that were hoping to shop; but finding doors locked, left for a new stop.
- Took 3 reports of fraud.
- Took a theft report.
- It’s happened before, and it’s happening again; if it continues, they’ll be starting a trend. Neighbors complaining, the guy’s bass is loud; but when we get there, he’s turned down the sound. He says that he’s sorry, and wants to play nice; but we’ve been here before dude, more than just twice. He says that it’s during, noise ordinance hours; and though technically true, the behavior still sours. His actions are chronic, and done with intention; disorderly conduct, was sure worth a mention. We hope that he listens, for his neighbors’ sake; but if it happens again, tougher action we’ll take.
- Registered 2 sex offenders.
- Participated in a fire drill at the school.
- While driving patrol, and looking around; saw a light after close, and here’s what we found. The store has a new guy, who was there working late; to know we were checking, made him feel great.
- Removed a road hazard.
- Served paperwork to 6 residents/businesses.
- A road hazard reported, a hay bale fell loose; it was dropped in the circle, which just gets our goose. As if that dang rotary, doesn’t cause enough strife; this adds to the chaos, which is already rife. We’re happy to say, that the person who dropped it; felt really bad, and came back and got it.
- Investigated an abandoned motor vehicle.
- Provided traffic control.
- A woman called in, saying something seemed strange; she went to a meeting, that had been arranged. The plan was to see, an apartment for rent; but the men who showed up, left her feeling quite pent. She said they were shady, and had a van there; where they tried to invite her, which made her beware.  She felt coerced, and got a weird vibe; then left in a hurry, because stuff didn’t jive. We’re glad that she did, caution always is best; especially when something, sits wrong in your chest.
- Notified of 2 businesses testing alarm systems.
- Addressed 5 calls for trees/wires down.
- A 911 call, with a child’s voice calling; said nothing was wrong, no one squalling or brawling. We checked anyway, just to make sure; but no problems were there, nothing for us to cure. It was simply a child, who called 911; after a brief little lesson, our job here was done.
- Assisted with 8 disabled vehicles.
- Responded with the Lee Fire and McGregor Ambulance, to 15 medical aid call.
- A new 911 call, this time for a U-haul; that was losing its load, causing traffic to crawl.  It left its back open, items falling from truck; clearly this driver, was running amuck. The items that dropped, had caused some delay; but the driver turned back, moving their stuff out of the way. With all things collected, and everything gathered; roadway safety restored, and that’s really what mattered.
- Responded to 12 motor vehicle accidents.
- Responded to 3 alarm activations.
- All driving rules, are important to know; but youth license rules, are even more so. They’re more rules to follow, for safety while learning; like number of riders, based on age they are turning. This particular stop, of a driver quite young; revealed too many riders, so parents were rung. We promise these rules, aren’t to ruin your fun; they’re for your own safety, every last one.
- Conducted 15 residence checks.
- Addressed 3 animal control issues.
- A door dash driver, picked up food as was tasked; but his drunken behavior, couldn’t be masked. The business that cooked it, called 911; tried to ID the driver, but it couldn’t be done. They had gotten no address, and only 1st name; the large lack of leads, sure thwarted our aim.
- Assisted with 2 motor vehicle lockouts.
- Responded with Lee Fire for a smell of gas causing ill effects.
- A 911 call, for a woman confused; seen wandering around, was she lost or bemused? Wandering on foot, and then in her car; parking in places, that seemed quite bizarre. We went out to check, without a delay; wanting to know, if she was okay. She was looking for someone, she was supposed to meet; and that’s why she was wandering, like a lost little sheep. We were glad that was it, and not too much wine; we contacted the caller, to let them know she was fine.
- Assisted other agencies on 13 occasions.
- Conducted 6 welfare checks.
- Multiple calls, about multiple drivers; driving erratic, and other like matters. What we would find, with each of the stops; was sleep deprivation, had them calling the cops. Just like drunk driving, makes people mad; driving while tired, is equally bad. Please do us a favor, and get plenty of rest; before you go driving, because that choice is best.
- Received 9 motor vehicle complaints.
- Handled 6 property related calls.
- While driving along, a tire went flying; it sped through the air, truly gravity defying. It didn’t fly far, before crashing a landing; it struck a small car, the driver’s attention commanding. The driver who lost it, he felt really bad; but accidents happen, so no one was mad. We took the report, and gathered the facts; no injuries found, solely tire impacts.
- Conducted follow up on 11 cases.
- Assisted citizens on 19 occasions.
- The front door of a business, was left damaged and shattered; we tried to find out, who left the door battered. In spite of the fact, they had caught it on tape; they didn’t press charges, just accepted the scrape. It seems that the damage, may have been accidental; which is why they decided, to handle it gentle.
- Investigated 6 suspicious vehicles.
- Addressed a parking complaint.
- A neighbor called to complain, about trespassing livestock; at first we thought cows (maybe pigs), not a flock. Turns out it was chickens, causing the squawk; they roam around freely, and don’t care where they walk. The unhappy caller, asked something be done; birds run a fowl, aren’t very much fun. Being out of our purview, we offered suggestions; but that seemed to add, to the volume of questions. Our live free or die state, has not many rules; regarding chickens, acting like fools. It’s an interesting topic, that needs some discussion; do trespassing hens, deserve repercussion? Some would say yes, and others say no; it’s cause for debate, that much we know.
- Investigated a suspicious activity call.
- Assisted DCYF with a referral.
- A call was received, of a person confused;
- Responded to a domestic disturbance.
- Police escort to transport ballots.
- This call had its spotlight, and we did several posts; it was quite a fiasco, and got plenty of roasts. A trash truck that traveled, through many a town; dumped a whole lot of sludge, that made people frown. Like many a business, they needed more staff; the driver (from office), wound up a gaffe. He was doing as told, but this wasn’t his thing; he hadn’t a clue, of the trouble he’d bring. So many drivers, drove through the sludge; and were very upset, when the crud wouldn’t budge. The mess was so sticky, and quite stinky too; the whole situation, well… was really just poo. At the end of the day, they did what was right; came forward and owned it, in spite of their plight. They really felt bad, and were truly contrite; and honestly wanted, to make everything right.
