Activity Log 4/1/23 to 4/15/23

Why does it seem, that time goes so slow; before a holiday weekend, with places to go. If you find yourself counting, the hours like sheep; here's a happy distraction, so you don't fall asleep.
Calls for Service:
- Performed 135 directed patrols and business checks.
- Performed 80 motor vehicle stops, including 45 for speed.
- Served paperwork to 9 residents.
- A call just to warn us, we may see lights on; in the dark of the night, in the church over yon. The youth group will be there, staying over the night; and the kind folks that go there, didn’t want to cause fright.
- Conducted 16 residence checks.
- Handled 6 property related calls.
- Responded with Lee Fire for a fire in the woods.
- While doing our rounds, checking things late at night; we found a van parked, that just didn’t look right. The business was closed, it was way after hours; but to figure it out, didn’t take super-powers. You know that old phrase, “if the van is a rockin’…”; well we did the reverse, and we DID “come a knockin’”. For a number of reasons, they shouldn’t be there; like one under 18, not in custodial care. We separated the two, and had them part ways; made sure to call mom, “Drive straight home no delays!”. The other involved, got a courtesy ride; and we stayed to make sure, that they went inside.
- Assisted other agencies on 11 occasions.
- Assisted Lee Fire with 2 fire alarms.
- Conducted follow up on 8 cases.
- Alzheimer’s is awful, all dementias are hard; it leads to tough things, like wandering out of the yard.  Such was the case, for a spouse here in town; whose loved one went missing, causing more than a frown. It’s panic inducing, pondering “what-ifs” and fears; it causes such stress, and can push you to tears. We’re happy to say, that things all worked out; we quickly found them, simply walking about. We got them home safely, the spouse was relieved; a deep sigh of relief, they were no longer grieved.
- Assisted citizens on 13 occasions.
- Investigated 4 suspicious vehicles.
- Responded with the Lee Fire and McGregor Ambulance, to 13 medical aid calls.
- Like the sound of a record, stuck on repeat; he’s at it again, annoying the street. His bass is too loud, causing windows to shake; neighbors patience worn out, no more can they take. They called to complain, and rightfully so; the behavior is chronic, and causing them woe. Time to switch tactics, and try something new; to stop the loud music, causing the trouble to brew.
- Responded to 6 disabled motor vehicle calls.
- Responded to 6 motor vehicle accidents.
- Notified of an alarm system being tested.
- We take theft reports often, yeah stuff says farewell; but this was the 1st time, someone had stolen a well. A well is an odd thing, for someone to steal; and how would they do it? Is this even real? The well and its pump, HAD been complete; but now it is missing, the hole filled with concrete.  But who would take it, without owner permission; turns out capping the well, was a contract condition.  Communication is key, this is sure proof of that; if someone had told him, he’d of expected the cap.
- Responded to 5 alarm activations.
- Responded to a suspicious activity call.
- Responded to a domestic disturbance call.
- A call for a driver, going over the lines; we get these a lot, the reasons all kinds. This one was tired, and needed a break; instead the passenger drove, for their safety’s sake.
- Did 3 sex offender registrations.
- Assisted with 3 motor vehicle lockouts.
- Performed a VIN verification.
- Every so often, we get an odd call; that has us shaking our heads, it’s just sooo off the wall. Someone called dispatch, and made a complaint; of bodies hanging out windows, of a car with gray paint. We tried hard to find it, and see it first hand; but it slipped through our fingers, like small grains of sand. Now we’re left to wonder, if this call was fake; or maybe it’s real, or perhaps a mistake. In the end, this one leaves us scratching our head; we’ve no doubt the call taker, had heard what they said.
- Addressed 2 animal related calls.
- Responded to a car passing a bus.
- Addressed 3 animal related calls.
- Out with a cyclist, way after dark; to talk about safety, we asked them to park.  They didn’t have lighting, or even reflectors; we provided some pointers, in our role as protectors. If people can’t see you, in the dark of the night; the danger is higher, than it’d be with a light. This is just a reminder, we’re not here to chide; think of your safety, when you leave for your ride.
- Addressed 3 truancy issues.
- Issued a hand summons for marijuana possession.
- Addressed 5 tree(s)/wire(s) down.
- A really scared driver, called 9-1-1; to report a mean driver, who’d been riding their bum.  The driver then passed them, and started to brake; their behavior so jarring, it caused the caller to quake.  There’s really no reason, to drive with such rage; so please take a deep breath, and turn a new page.
- Responded to 10 motor vehicle complaints.
- Conducted 2 welfare checks.
- Assisted DCYF with an inquiry.
- Called to the scene, of a truck in a lot; involved in a crash, without leaving its spot. A witness had watched, as a car hit the truck; they got the plate info, we were in luck. It took a few phone calls, but we found the driver; who admitted involvement, but was not a conniver  . The person was sorry, that they left the scene; but they hadn’t seen damage, and thought things were keen. The two exchanged info, another case solved; a nice peaceful ending, glad it’s resolved.
- Attempted warrant service.
- Took a report of harassment.
- Did a school walk through.
- A business called in, saying something seemed wrong; they suspect fake ID, but the person’s now gone. The descriptors were off, it was from out of state; there were multiple reasons, they didn’t feel great.  The sale was denied, and the person did leave; so it’s just a report, for us to receive.
- Responded to a 911 hang-up call.
- Took a report of an email scam.
- Addressed a noise complaint.
- It was just after 9, not so late in the night; when in came a call, someone acting a fright. The caller reported, a guy acting strange; he was yelling and howling, and acting deranged. They didn’t know him, never saw him before; but gave a description, with clues to explore. We looked all around, and checked to the line; we didn’t hear screaming, things seemed just fine. Yet another strange call, where we’re left without closure; super frustrating, but we maintain our composure.
