Activity Logs 2/1/23 to 2/8/23

Lee Police Activity Log for 2/1/23 to 2/8/23:
Calls for Service:
- Performed 68 directed patrols and business checks.
- Performed 20 motor vehicle stops, including 7 for speed.
- A 911 call, asking help to come quick; a fire had started, smoke could grow thick. A car had caught fire, they soon would learn why; a nest in the engine, was starting to fry. What kind of a nest? Was it squirrel, maybe mouse… found it was rodents, claiming this car as their house. The crew leapt into action, the fire put out; the now homeless mouse family, did probably pout. Although it is early, to say at this stage; keep your eyes open, for their Go-Fund Me Page.
- Investigated an abandoned motor vehicle.
- Registered a sex offender.
- 911 calls, seem the thing of the week. Don’t believe us? Then just take a peek. Let’s kick this off, with a quite common theme… of driving behavior, that makes people scream.  A guy simply driving, and taking it slow; had ticked off a female, and she let him know. Her driving was reckless, he was pushed off the road; she yelled at a light, after they slowed. He called 911, to report her rude driving; but they’d crossed the town line, before us arriving.
- Addressed 2 animal related calls.
- Conducted 6 residence checks.
- It was wee early morning, just after one; when a guy started yelling, clearly just “done”!  The clerk calling in, was understandably scared; their mounting concern we certainly shared. His card was declined, which made him irate; he accused them of stealing, and said he would wait. He demanded to speak, with a person in charge; his voice ever growing, becoming quite large. This guy was not leaving, instead he just sat; refusing to go, without having his chat. We spoke to him nicely, said to call in the morning; he decided to leave then, and heeded our warning.
- Handled 10 property related calls.  Looks like our letter is working. J
- Assisted other agencies on 6 occasions.
- A person received, some pics via chat; then poorly decided, to send pictures back. You can imagine, what happened next; the blackmail soon started, the person felt hexed. They did the right thing, by calling it in; and halted the scammers, from getting their win. Our message to you, is be safe online; making good choices, can help prevent crime.
- Assisted Lee Fire with 3 fire alarms.
- Provided traffic control.
- 911 for bad driving, it wasn’t a spoof; the whole thing recorded, they had video proof. A work van was driving, “all over the road”; then pulled into a business, is what we were told. We went to the business, and did find the driver; we wanted to know, was he drunk… maybe tired? The driver agreed, to take a few tests; and passed them with ease, is what happened next. Seeing that they, were fine and okay; we sent them along, to enjoy their day.
- Responded to 9 motor vehicle complaints.
- Conducted a welfare check.
- A clerk made a call, to the 911 line; someone stole beer, simply skipping the line.  Some people were waiting, and wanted to pay; but the clerk was so busy, it caused a delay. A witness had told her, the guy took a case; we watched the surveillance, for a glimpse of his face. After seeing the footage, we quickly deduced; the guy indeed paid, before he vamoosed.  We were happy to find, no crime was committed; by video proof, the “thief” was acquitted.
- Conducted follow up on 9 cases.
- Assisted citizens on 7 occasions.
- A resident called, 911 for a thing, they spotted some strangers, caught on their “Ring”. They weren’t at home, and wanted to know; who were these people, that decided to show? It was a handful of people, and three different cars; it had their concern, and now it has ours. We went to the house, only to find; the people had left, with no clues left behind.
- Investigated 3 suspicious vehicles.
- Assisted DCYF with an inquiry.
- A 911 call, for a car that was weaving; its poor lane control, desire was leaving. We followed the car, watching it steer; seeing no issues, we called we were clear.
- Responded with the Lee Fire and McGregor Ambulance, to 4 medical aid calls.
- Responded to 6 motor vehicle accidents.
- Sometimes the ending, is not what’s expected; like for this call, we thought they’d be arrested. A caller reported, a car driving badly; not stopping at signs, and maneuvering madly. Several times now, they barely just missed; crashing and landing, their car in a ditch. They crossed double yellows, all over the road; was impairment to blame, for the driving they showed? We soon stopped the car, but suspicion would grow; that drugs were involved, and we needed to know. They agreed to do testing, we call FST’s; and found that they passed them, each one with ease. With no cause for holding, we counseled them kindly; to please drive more carefully, not seemingly bindly.
- Responded to 2 disabled motor vehicle calls.
- Removed hazardous tree debris from roadway.
- There were more 911’s, for crashes and wrecks; surprised that not all, were from circles effects.
- Addressed 3 tree(s)/wire(s) down.
- Notified of an alarm system being tested.
- Responded to an alarm activation.
- A woman was crossing, the road to her car; when a guy rolled up quickly, causing her jar. She stopped in her tracks, and then started to yell; the guy called her a “Karen”, which didn’t go well. She held up two fingers, like giving a pinch; and held them apart, describing “an inch”.  Understanding her gesture, insulting a male; he became very angry, and started to rail. She called 911, to say he made threats; the longer they’re at it, the worse that it gets. The toxic exchange, abruptly ended; when the driver took off, leaving both so offended.  Neither was right, in fact both were wrong; this kind of behavior, just doesn’t belong. It’s better advice, to be kind and sweet; to be gracious and smile, at the people we meet.  And here is the moral, don’t act like these two; make better choices, life will be better for you.
