150 Wakefield Street, Rochester, NH Phone: 332-9120 Open Mon – Fri 8 am - 4:30 pm Child Support Service and Division of Family Assistance: Responsible for administering programs to provide financial and medical assistance to people in NH who are in need and meet eligibility requirements. Financial Assistance Programs: Old Age Assistance, Aid to Needy, Aid to the Blind, Aid to Permanently and Totally Disabled, Temporary Aid for Needy Families. Medical Assistance: Medicaid is designed to help persons with limited income obtain medical services.


Strafford County Community Action Programs

  • Low Income Home Energy Assistance. Provides income-eligible households with help in paying energy bills during the winter heating season. Payments may be made to gas, electric, oil, or wood vendors.
  • The Fuel Assistance Program can also pay a portion of rent, if heat is included. Program eligibility and benefit level are determined by household income, family size, and fuel usage.
  • New Hampshire Electric Assistance Program provides discounts on monthly electric bills to income eligible households in an effort to make electric bills more affordable.
  • Security Deposit Guarantee Loan Program is to provide a guarantee fund for security deposits.
  • Self-Sufficiency Case Management Program provides a Case Manager to work with low-income families to address key issues and provide supportive services to overcome barriers to self-sufficiency.
